1. Installation Instructions for Roofing a Beamed Structure

Step 1 – Use screws (see: Accessories Table) to attach the base connecting
profiles to the roof beams. Make sure that screws do not bend, tear or exert
excessive pressure on the profile.

Step 2 – Place the sheet on top of the base profile support edges, with
the side covered by the printed protective film facing upwards.

Step 3 – Slide the base under the sheet and attach it to the beam.

Step 4 – Place the side spacer profile (see: Accessories Table) onto the roof
beam and attach the cap to the base by hammering into place with a rubber mallet.

Steps 5 to 7 – Continue adding sequentially, a sheet (step 5),
a base connecting profile (step 6) and a cap (step 7) until reaching the end
of the building. After completing installation, remove all the printed protective
film from the sheets.

2. Installation of YUEMEI polycarbonate sheet

(1)Flush type installation
a). Cut off protective films for 5 to 10mm before inserting PC sheets to the support frame, because the protective films would cause inefficient adhesive between tamping and PC sheets.
b). Since the expansion and contraction degree of PC sheets, are different from that of medal frames, as well as PC sheets are flexible and taking air pressure, therefore, appropriate insertion, reserving space for expansion and shrink because of temperature changes, and choosing suitable thickness of PC sheets are necessary. General plate should be inserted into fixed frame for over 25mm, with at least 2 ribs installed into the fixed zone. 3mm place will be reserved for expansion or shrinkage. (Expansion ratio: 0.065mm/m)

(2)Screw installation
a). When hollow profile and solid sheet are installed with screw installation, all rivet holes should be reamed to reserve space for expansion and contraction. Usually, the holes should be larger than that of the bolt or rivet stems by 50%" so as to avoid expansion or shrinkage.
b). Fill up the holes, and cover the exposed portion with silicone compound to prevent detergents permeating which brings damage to pc sheets, and avoid gradual cracks.
c). Rivet heads should be larger than the stems by 2 times. Use gaskets or washers to avoid the rivet heads touching pc sheets, and reduce the pressure.
d). Do not screw into too tightly.
e). Do not use gaskets made of PVC.
  f). The bending part should be avoided using screw for cold bending process.

Store sheets on flat surfaces or wooden bearers with 100mm minimum bearing surface placed at centre not exceeding 1m. Make sure the place where you stored in dry, shaded and well ventilated area. Use an opaque cover (not under flexible PVC coverings), tightly secured, to protect from wind, rain and sun. Don't store under direct sunlight or without shelter from rain. Storage is always preferable indoors.
Sheet Orientation Warning:Only one side of the sheet has the protective U.V. absorbing surface and this surface must be facing towards exterior. Sheets are covered with a thin plastic film and marked with a writing to designate exterior side. Prior to installation, peel film off plastic film and mark exterior side with a grease pencil.
Thermal Expansion: Sheet expands in hot weather, contracts when cold. About 1/32" per ft. for 100º temp change. For small greenhouses, impact is minimal. If installed on cold day, with sheets touching or tight against a wall, problems may occur as sheet expands. Sheet will absorb some flexing, but best to follow our guidelines. The greatest amount of expansion and contraction can occur in the spring and fall. Cold nights and warm sunny days can result in dramatic temp swings. Note that bronze polycarbonate gets warmer and expands 30% more that clear or white.

The UV protected surface of YUEMEI sheet is covered at manufacture with a branded film. This should always be on the outside of the installation. A further plain film is applied to the inner surface. To install, the film should be peeled back about
50mm to allow clean sheet insertion into the glazing system and application of end tapes and closure. Don't remove or damage the protection film until sheets are properly installed. Don't remove protection film when cutting. Both films should be left in place for protection of the sheet until project hand over, particularly when there are following trades and then they can be removed. If the project is likely to take time to complete, regularly check that the film does not bond on to the sheet, particularly in sunny weather.

When drilling YUEMEI polycarbonate sheet, use standard twist drills and carbide tipped drills. The sheet must be supported firmly underneath when drilling. Holes must not be drilled any less than
40mm from the edges of the sheet. The diameter of drill holes must be 50% larger than that of the screws to allow for the displacement of produced due to thermal expansion.


YUEMEI polycarbonate sheet can be cut with a fine tooth circular saw or hand saw held at a shallow angle. Dust must be removed from the sheet using a vacuum cleaner or dry compressed air. It is necessary to support the sheet close to the cut and to hold it firmly to prevent stress and vibration.
Cutting details: To cut sheet width, for angle cuts, 10mm, 16mm & 25mm cuts and whenever sheet is to slide into Aluminum U use circular saw with plywood blade or jig saw with fine tooth blade. This produces clean, even cut. Cut sheet before taking off film, or static charge attracts fine chips to channels. Shake sheet, vacuum or blow out channels, removing chips prior to install. Condensation moving through layers continues cleaning channels, but get clean as possible. Leave film on sheet until ready to install, remove in area without dust. 8mm sheets may be cut to length with sharp utility knife. Clamp straight edge to sheet with rubber tip spring clamps and use as cutting guide. Run blade along guide a few times to achieve sufficient cut. Turn sheet over, bend and cut along crease to separate. Cut is ok whenever sheet edge is to be covered with aluminum tape and other low tolerance situations.
